Summer Care Of Curly Hair

Summer Care Of Curly Hair

It doesn’t matter whether you have naturally curly hair or have gotten an American Wave treatment at Pyara Spa and Salon, one thing is for sure – it can take a little extra work and care at home to ensure your curls remain frizz-free, manageable, and healthy during the hot summer months. At Pyara, we rely on quality hair care products and will recommend the best ones to use at home in between appointments. Also, here are some tips from our expert stylists to help you keep your curls looking fabulous and feeling soft all summer long.

Don’t skimp on the water. Sometimes we get so busy during the day that we forget to drink water. Drinking half your body weight in ounces, or at least 8 glasses of water a day, will help to keep your skin and hair hydrated. If your body lacks proper hydration, your hair can pay the price, since the body will naturally take nutrients and moisture from the hair and skin and use those resources on other more vital parts of your body.

Condition frequently. To keep your curls nourished, looking good, feeling soft, and easily manageable, you should condition your hair frequently with a specially formulated conditioner meant for curly hair. Typically, you only will need to shampoo your hair a couple of times a week. If you shampoo too often, the natural oils in your hair can be stripped, causing your curls to become limp, dull, and dry. Besides conditioning at home, you can indulge in one of our Davines unique hair masks to add deep nourishment back into your hair.

Get regular trims. A great way to tame your curls is to stop split ends before they cause your hair to frizz or break. By regularly having your curls trimmed by your favorite stylist, it will not only help to keep your hair healthy, but they can also help because your stylist will see your hair in person so they can recommend the best products to use in your hair.

Keep wet hair loose. When your hair is wet, it’s at its most fragile state. If you immediately pull your curls back into a tight ponytail or bun after swimming or showering, it can cause damage to your hair. Split ends, frizz, and breakage all happen when you bind your wet hair. Instead, apply a heat protectant to blow dry your curls or allow your hair to air dry naturally. If you want to keep your hair out of your eyes, use a soft headband or clip. Once dried, use a curl-defining product for silky smooth curls, or gather your curls into a loose ponytail or bun for an easygoing look.

Protect your hair from UV rays. You may use sunscreen to protect your skin from the damaging UV rays, but do you protect your scalp and hair as well? Hair needs to be protected too. Using a wide-brimmed hat is the best way to protect your scalp and hair from becoming burned when you’re in the sun. However, you can also use spray sunscreen on your hair or hair protection products with a high SPF rating as well. Your curls will thank you!
